WHY LISTEN TO ME?

Hello, my name is Paul Maxey...

I cut my teeth in direct response marketing as a “Copy Cub” for Clayton Makepeace — the legendary copywriter and marketer who's generally regarded as America's highest paid copywriter — where I learned how to write copy that sells under what can only be called 'trial-by-fire.'

“Here’s your project… here’s your deadline… now go get it done!”

After two intense years working on Clayton’s team, I went to work for Jeff Walker (founder of Product Launch Formula) — where I spent three years working on his team, deep in the product launch trenches, learning the secrets of how to launch products and services online and build amazing businesses.

While there, I had the great pleasure of meeting and rubbing elbows with many of the world’s top 7 and 8-figure entrepreneurs online — including Brendon Burchard, Justin Livingston, Mike Koenigs, Andy Jenkins, Lisa Sasevich, Mari Smith, Chalene Johnson, and so many more.

To say those five years spent on the front lines of the online marketing world was more educational than an MBA would be an understatement!

But It Wasn't All Roses By Any Stretch...

Even with these amazing strokes of “luck” (I stand by the definition of luck as “when preparation meets opportunity”)...

I’ve also experienced my share of trials, challenges, and tribulations. The kind that leads you to question your own self-worth.

The kind that leaves you laying awake at night, staring into the abyss of a dark room… feeling alone and defeated, and questioning if you really do have what it takes to succeed.

The kind that makes you ask yourself… “Am I really worthy of success?”

I’ve also made my share of flat-out dumb decisions… put my trust in the wrong people… and spent many a solitary hour wallowing in self-pity, feeling like the whole world was against me.

And I’ve experienced the fear… the indecision… and the self-doubt that creeps into your consciousness when you're not looking, and then sticks with you like a chill you can never quite shake off.

All in an attempt to “find my place” and quench my deep-seated need to be anything but average.

I’ve often heard it said that the road to success is paved with failure.

If you try to “go it alone” that’s certainly the case.

I did go it alone for much of my life and I paid the ultimate price.

I worked a lot harder and a lot longer than I ever needed to.

It cost me time with those I love... time watching my kids grow up... time I will never be able to get back.

Throughout, a few things have stuck with me:

FIRST… my greatest successes were born out of my failures.

It’s trite, but true, that you learn a whole lot more from your failures than you do from your successes. If they were handing out PhDs in failure, I would have received mine a long, long time ago!

And yes, experience is the best teacher. But it doesn’t have to be your own.

Why not learn from someone else’s experience, and avoid the pain and hardship?

It’s a long, hard road to travel alone.

SECOND… you’ve got to know the why for what you do.

If you don’t know your “Big Why” for everything you do — if you can’t say why you should even get out of bed — you’re a ship without a rudder.

A rudderless ship will float aimlessly forever, never arriving at a destination.

I struggled for years to find my Big Why.

Once I found it, everything in my life began to make sense.

My childhood, my teens, my 20s and 30s, all the way up through this very moment in time as I write this — everything I’ve ever studied, worked for, and accomplished — it all fits into my Big Why.

When you know your Big Why, everything changes.

You make better decisions. You make quicker decisions.

It gives your life meaning and purpose.

If you don’t yet know what it is, find it. Right now.

THIRD… it’s all about relationships.

Brilliant marketing and copywriting can only take you so far.

Yes, you’ll achieve success — but do you know what works infinitely better?

Building relationships.

Genuine caring.

All the stuff that faceless corporations fail at miserably.

Most large companies have lost their way. They’ve forgotten why they got into business.

Or they simply never had good intentions to begin with.

I’ve worked for some of these companies, as an employee and as a subcontractor.

They were miserable experiences that left me jaded and skeptical about people, and about society as a whole. But they also opened my eyes to the beauty and grace of real, genuine people.

The people who would eventually become my “ideal clients.”

You can’t have light without dark. You can’t have good without bad.

They are two sides of the same coin.

FOURTH… books, courses, and programs can only take you so far.

All the training in the world can only get you to the starting line.

Let’s face it, we are all experiencing information overload in today’s insanely fast-paced, information-abundant world.

But at some point, you’ve just got to dive in with both feet and start taking massive action.

At some point, you’ve got to stop investing in information and start doing the work!

Most entrepreneurs I consult with are suffering from decision fatigue.

They’re stuck in a “no man’s land” of fear, worry, paralysis, and indecision.

They’ve experienced success on some level in their business, but they’re stuck.

They’ve hit a plateau and they’ve stopped growing.

Worse, I often find they’ve succumbed to the fallacy that one more book, one more course, or one more workshop is going to save them from the abyss.

When what they really need is an outsider that can put a fresh set of eyes on their business.

An experienced guide to help them navigate the sea of strategic decisions and problems, and keep all the moving parts operating smoothly.

It’s infinitely harder to achieve significant, measurable results when you go it alone.

FIFTH… success is ultimately pretty simple.

I struggled for a long time to achieve any level of success.

Not because I wasn’t doing things, but because I was doing the wrong things.

I suffered from what’s commonly referred to as “shiny object syndrome.”

I followed all the gurus and the latest gimmicks… kept up with all the cool new tools… opted into all the hot new launches. Like a shark, I felt if I stopped swimming (learning every new thing that came along) I would miss something important.

The problem is, I was always so busy following the latest trends, tactics, techniques, and tools that I never took action with any of it. Shiny object syndrome is not a right-of-passage for succeeding in the online marketing world.

It’s a disease. An addiction. A deadly distraction.

It wasn’t until I unsubscribed from 90% of my emails, stopped attending every guru webinar that came along, and started taking action that I finally found success.

And not just any action, the right action!

Often it takes someone else to help you create a strategic plan to reach your goals and objectives… and to keep you “on task” and headed in the right direction.

SIXTH… if it’s worth doing at all, it’s worth doing well.

Anyone can create an average product or service… attract a relatively stable flow of average customers or clients… and service those customers or clients in an average way like any average business.

Anyone can build an average business.

It’s another thing entirely to create a business that provides an extraordinary level of service… builds extraordinary products… and transforms the lives of its customers or clients in a truly extraordinary way.

What type of business are you committed to building?

So they can experience the childhood I could only dream of… follow their passions, without fear and worry for the basic necessities in life… and make their own mark on the world, and leave it a better place for having lived in it.

In short, I’m just your average husband and dad.

My wife is my soul mate and a "badass" in her own right.

In addition to multiple half-marathons, she recently ran the New York City Marathon, raising over $3,000 for the Marine Corp Semper Fi Fund to support soldiers in need in the Armed Services.

She now has her sights set on completing the Ironman.

My daughter Emily is a talented saxophone player in her high school marching band (they’ve been top 4 in the state for 10 years running).

My daughter Haley is a soccer star who will likely go on to play throughout college, and maybe even beyond.

And my son Collin is a certifiable bookworm that is well on his way to becoming a Black Belt in karate.

Yet, even though they all have very disparate likes and talents, I have no doubt they will all follow in my footsteps and own their own business at some point.

I like to think it's in their blood.

My SECOND love is advertising, marketing, and online business strategy.

I thrive on helping my clients get better results, with greater ease, while having tons more fun in the process. So they can find that elusive “sweet spot” between living their passion and achieving their business goals, and experience life to the fullest.

I love to see the glimmer in a client’s eye — or hear the excitement in their voice — when they suddenly “get it” and realize the depth and breadth of their own potential, and the awesome potential of their business.

So if you know in your heart you’re moving in the right direction, but that an experienced guide would get you far bigger results, far more quickly…

And if everything that I’ve talked about here resonates with you…

Then I’d love the opportunity to chat with you to see if I can help you.

Yours for an extraordinary life and business!
